Almalgamated amalgamation? Mr. Rogers died yesterday of cancer. He was 74. Now, I must admit that when I was a kid watching his show I did think it was just a hair too goody-goody... but you know, the man made kids happy... and the trolley was cool. I remember he had a stoplight mounted on the wall in his kitchen, and I believe he had some fish. Wasn't there a puppet that lived in a clock or had a bunch of clocks or something? You'll be missed man.

Not guilty.

Just when we thought the Bush administration couldn't get any worse...

So long, Pioneer 10. They're back, and one of them is evil.

The Progress Authority Woah, I'm a juror! I'm a full supporter of one's civic duties, but when I got called in for jury duty this week it couldn't have been at a worse time. My work shifts, and more particularly my school schedule (I have midterms this week) are going to be royally messed up... but even with that I was still chosen, though I think my closest peer on the jury is was probably twice my age.

This has had to be one of the worst weeks on record. Murphy's law is putting in some overtime with me lately, and I just about lost it this afternoon. I'd like to appeal to the forces of the universe and ask respectfully that they tone it down a bit. Today, in particular, was just going way too far.

Tonight was a plus though, as I started work on the semi-ornate box I'm making in shop class. I'm making it to hold my growing collection of digital videotapes, and though this isn't exactly the most glorious use of a hand-made box made out of expensive woods, the idea of making something beautiful for a practical purpose seems to suit my ideals very well. I'm making it out of bloodwood, wenge, and figured maple. There will be photos later, of course.

One kick ass bird Sam died yesterday. We'll miss you birdskabird.

I attended part of the City Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee today (I still don't know how I got invited to attend), though it didn't go so well. I was late, I knew no one there, most of the people attending seemed to be representatives of considerable political power (and I currently am not), and then - to top out my general uneasiness - I had to leave early (and in the middle of one gentleman's presentation). I do plan to attend the next meeting, as I will be a bit more prepared and punctual.

It's official, the government wants you to get ready to die! Come on guys, this has 'Duck and Cover' written all over it...

I saw this coming a mile away...

Sparks!
You are Sparks. You care about Sealab only because
it's full of fools to take advantage of.

Which Sealab 2021 character are you?

Look ma, no teeth! I got my semi-annual teeth-cleaning today. Now whenever I bite into something sweet I get a lovely jolt of delayed, wincing pain.

Tonight I attended a meeting of the local Green Party to evaluate their agenda. It was a bit awkward, being that very few people decided to show up to this particular meeting, and it was particularly strange when the 'regs' let us 'newbies' vote on future plans. I'm going to see if I can help them out with their website because, it's rather horrid. We will be renovating it shortly, as I'm meeting with the webmaster on Saturday.

Dave Attell is great.

Dictatorship, anyone? Oh wait, we have one already... Last Sunday was a moderately eventful day. First, I participated in the second major anti-war protest in Sanfran since the new year (photos later). After a lot of walking around and an interesting dinner, I went with my sister and some of her friends to see Bubba-Ho-Tep, the new Bruce Campbell movie... but I personally would like to have called the movie Bubba-no-seats, for, even though we bought our tickets weeks ahead of time, the idiots at the Roxi movie theater oversold tickets at the door and about 20 of us that already had tickets weren't allowed in. Can you say, I want my money back? I did.

I Found some nice scrap wood in the storage room at my shop class tonight. Among the find was a figured maple panel, a big chunk of bloodwood, and some scraps of cocobolo. There was also a considerable amount of walnut, but that was claimed by a buddy of mine.

Wait... a historical building being buried in poo? Wha?

Keep on truckin' Man, I really don't listen to enough classical music anymore. Back in Oregon I used to have KWAX going whenever I was out driving around... I really need to break out some of the local classical stations more often.

I hate Valentines day. This day has brought me nothing but bad memories, until tonight. I was sitting at home flipping channels late into the evening when I just got this overwhelming urge to go out and do something... which I did. Somehow I ended up driving directly to this little pub downtown packed with some interesting folk. I went in, and just as I was about to go home following a half hour session of sitting with just a beer to talk to in a crowded pub, some folk band showed up and started playing a couple sets... apparently it was their 'CD release party.' The stage was really small and there was a lot of yammering between songs and crowd heckling, but in the end the music was good and the atmosphere was friendly. It lifted my spirits anyway... cheers.

I love how the current administration loves to point out how we saved Europe from tyranny, and then expects these same nations that we 'saved' to do our bidding without hesitation... War criminal? Well, it's a start anyway. What's wrong with having a double standard here and there once in a while? According to the Bush administration, nothing.
Friday, 2-7-03. Perpertually sunny and cool
Mankind manufactured I've been feeling pretty good lately... getting a lot of stuff done, been going bike riding, etc. Today was the first day in a long time that I practiced my guitar playing enough to make my fingers sore. (best Beavis voice) 'cool..'

I've been rubbing my eyes like mad lately.. and trying not to just as often. I don't know what the hell it is, but something in the area sure as hell is blooming something into the air that I'm allergic to.

Finally, after a month of procrastinating, I finally cleaned my shower today. No more white streaks down the tiles... no more sliding down the tub basin... yes, very gross. This victory was won at a price however, as I subjected myself to about 3 hours of breathing in the horrendous fumes of various solvents and super-duper cleaning sprays.

Spell gobbledegook correct in a single try? Oh yeah. I reek of sawdust.. primarily pine sawdust. Tonight was the first night in shop class the newbies got to work on their starter projects. My progress on the cutting board I'm making for my folks has been a bit slow, but I think I'll be able to wrap most of the work up next week.

Well this is interesting, eh? Anyone for some dark humor? How about some new photos?

It is mankind's destiny to travel the stars The space shuttle Columbia broke up over Texas this morning. This is a sad day for everyone.

Nelson Mandela continues to kick ass.

John Belushi was the man.
