Woah! Break out the shorts! Today was the first day of the year that the shorts in my closet saw daylight. The weather's been pretty warm here lately, as one could hopefully guess. I've been making some progress on that box I've been working on forever in my woodworking class. Today I finally glued all the joints together, and now I have to get the top and bottom cut to size.
I think I've been stressed lately.. or something. I haven't been able to think clearly for some time, and I always feel run down. Additionally, I've been generally uninspired and my mind's been wandering into fog-land in excess. You know, upon a hasty retrospection, I'm glad I wasn't able to go to any of my high school proms or homecoming dances. Knowing what I know now, I think the pain of the situation would've resulted in some rather disastrous consequences. F*cking hell people, sign my guestbook. As much as I like Rach, her entry is getting old! Well that was the end of that, wasn't it. Random thing of the day: Corned beef is a bad steak trying to be ham. |

This blog is unusual in that it's almost entirely humor-related. A word to the wise: If you're cleaning your guitar's fretboard, use Old English. Don't use Pledge. And, if you can, try not to use the lemon-scented crap.
The other night Cherz, Sweatybutcher, and I all sat down to watch the Saddam Hussein "broadcast" out of Iraq. After enduring too many of the horrendous translations, we began poking a little fun at them. If they don't seem funny, I guess you just had to be there. Beefpile007: hit them above the necks and cut the heads... Beefpile007: wow.. Dark1 777: "Cut all the heads" Gnarler: not just some of them.. all of them Gnarler: "our defiant soldiers greeted with Allah, many prizes" Dark1 777: kill 1 of the infidel and you win a tape dispenser Gnarler: Kill 10 of the infidel and you get a George Foreman grill? Anyway, emergency. Beware of the pop-ups... aye, they be ruthless. Whales gotta poo in the desert, too. Could be a rap, yo. |

It's official, the world has descended into madness. The first stages of the ground war began yesterday (Actually more like 36 hours ago, due to the time difference) and apparently US forces have already captured the coastal town of Umm Qasr. There have been protests aplenty in just about every major city around the world, including students here in the US walking out of their classes in protest.
I have a sinking feeling that, in the future, this war is going to result in, what we call in Oregon, some extremely bad sh*t. This article summed it up nicely with a quote from Dan Vlasin, a Romanian, who said, "America is acting as if it were God." This is Rome, and we are the Romans. |

I attended another meeting of the City Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee at City Hall this afternoon. It mostly went well, though I think it's going to take a couple more meetings for me to get used to the way people converse in there... and more importantly, know what the hell they're talking about. An example:
Guy who looks like he's in charge: "Ok, next item on the agenda.. the Rothchild Street intersection with Fern Circle.. now Bill over at CNS said the street is actually on county land and they have to take it to a review board before they can do anything about it." Older guy who looks like he might be in charge too: "Well, now wait.. I was in a meeting last week with Samantha over at NPS and she said the issue had been clarified through the joint task committee meeting between her department and the OCS at County.. I think she set it up through Dave." GWLLHIC: Oh ok, well Kathy, that'd be your area.. how would you feel about setting up a timetable so we could discuss this further during the next budget review?" Lady I assume is Kathy: Well that's more Samantha's zone, but she's not here tonight.. she's over in Stats talking with that group from the JSCP... you know how they are.." (everyone chuckles) "yeah..." At this point I just nod and furrow my brow. Oh, by the way... King W. symbolically signed the death warrant for US support toward any sort of positive cooperation with the world community today... we're invading Iraq in two days. Oh, but we need this war... especially with people dying of thirst? Damn... salute a fallen soldier, folks. There is just something terribly sick and ironic about this, historically. |

For some time now, I've been trying to figure out why I am unable to install new fonts on my computer. For some reason my fonts window (under control panel) doesn't have the option to, "install new font," like it should. Anybody have any ideas?
I've started the heavy-duty portion of my project to re-finish my folks' kitchen cabinets. I tried some laquer/paint-remover yesterday and after a bit of testing it worked out quite nicely. The downside is, the gel-like solution has some nasty fumes, and it's a mess to scrape off. Steel wool helps take care of that, but I'm still not anywhere close to streamlining the project... yet. On other fronts... as a part of the wrapping-up portion of cleaning my bedroom yesterday, I vacuumed the dust out of my computer tower... all 50 lbs of it. My CPU fan looked like it had some sort of tumors growing in it. Note to self: Vacuum out the computer more often. I came across this while re-taking my Spark tests the other day... quite humorous. Woah, who would've thought the coming war with Iraq could be illegal under internation law? Man, who would've thought? </sarcasm> |

I don't have much to write about in this entry, as the most noteworthy achievement I could think of lately was when I cleaned off my entire desk this morning. I hadn't cleaned it since probably before Christmas... it was pretty bad. My USB zip drive had so much dust on it that it looked like it could use a shave. That aside, the real meat of this entry is the links:
Cherz and I (I must give him most of the credit) did a little anti-war, anti-Bush piece for your entertainment/horror. Beefpile presents: Anti-War and Anti-Bush Protest: The Musical Another project I was involved in recently was the Beefpile/Sweatybutcher joint mission: The desk items project (pre-dusting) This evening I found an interesting article through Google News discussing national self-determination, check it out. |

Sweatybutcher.com has officially launched! Check it out folks, he's given us all a good run for our money. Good job man, the journey has just begun...
In a dream I had last night, I found myself having grown out my hair again, be it just at shoulder length. I felt a very strong sense that this was in the not-so-distant future, perhaps in a couple years. The whole thing left me feeling a bit uneasy because the task of growing one's hair out can be somewhat daunting (it was for me, anyway). As a result of all the accumulated strange vibes, I've been going around most of the day feeling like something's not quite right. Michael's 22nd birthday was yesterday, happy birthday Michael. |

I got bored at work tonight and re-read some of my old blog entries. It occurred to me that my older entries appeared to be considerably more creative than anything I've written about recently, and, additionally, my newer entries seem to have reverted to some sort of pseudo cyber-whining. Well, I say enough of that sh*t.
Work was nice tonight, I got to work with Dave. Dave's an interesting guy... he's a textbook accountant with a monotone voice, but he has a great sense of humor and he's really patient. I'm gonna miss working with folks like him. My existence is apparently trying to even itself out, at least in regards to my diet. I've been having excellent (for me) breakfasts lately... strawberries, fresh-squeezed orange juice, toasted blueberry bagels, etc. However, I've also begun snacking on Oreo cookies on a regular basis. Naturally, this will stop when I run out of them. |

Today was one of those "Woah, I got a sh*tload of stuff done" kind of days. Excellent.
I spent some time this morning doing a complete site update. All involved pages on the site (with the exception of old blogs) are now updated with the new CSS scheme. I also moved all pages concerning my woodworking projects from the residues section to the projects section, and completely re-wrote the Gnarlification page. I also finally got around to putting up the photos from my cutting board project, as well as photos from the anti-war march and rally on February 16. Check em, yo. |

Well folks, I slacked off at work tonight and learned CSS. And, though elderly ladies were getting lost at twice the normal speed for Excel Level 2, you all can marvel at the beauty that is... CSS-powered Axis Ost. Any new page on this site from here on in will be made with the loving centralized touch of CSS.
(insert ooohs and aaaahs here) In other news, my computer has taken a serious turn for the worse lately. I've determined that, with slightly above average usage, my machine needs a full Fdisk and reinstall about once every 9 months... a statistic I personally find absurd. Currently, we're about 6 months overdue. With IE crashing in some way every time I run it, my system crashing about as often, and now AOHell crashing randomly, the time may be drawing near to start searching for my installation disks again. The other night I figured out how to convert hex code used for website colors into RGB decimal and back again. The process is a little lengthy to put in here, so I threw it in the residues section... go fetch. |
